Rules of Promoting Games
In
order to create a friendly and safe environment for all players, we have established this set of rules.
Anyone posting a game on this site MUST abide by
these rules.
THE
MPT WEBSITE AND OWNER TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY WHATSOEVER AS TO THE SAFETY AND/OR
LEGALITY OF HOME GAMES. POST AND ATTEND EVENTS AT YOUR OWN RISK. WE ARE ONLY
PROVIDING AN OUTLET FOR COMMUNICATION ABOUT LOCAL GAMES!
-
Games must "pay out" all buy-ins.
Game Host MAY NOT keep a
percentage of the buy-in, and may not charge any extra money for the ability to play in the
game*. There are three exceptions to this rule:
-
Licensed Fund-raising events. If you'd like to post a fund-raising
event please EMAIL us and we'll grant special permission.
-
If you are providing food or beverages, you may take a
VOLUNTARY collection
TO COVER THOSE EXPENSES. However, that collection MAY NOT exceed your expenses, and the collection MAY NOT be
mandatory. Please also keep in mind that it's illegal to re-sell alcohol, and this website does not
suggest you do so.
-
Licensed
Casinos. If you'd like to list and/or promote your games/tournaments, EMAIL
US and we'll give you information on how you can do so!
-
Games must follow
an established standard group of rules (Robert's Rules or TDA, etc.) for the respective game. If your game
does not follow established rules, or if you have a "House Rule" that is
contrary to standard Robert's Rules or TDA rules (ie. "no check-raising" or similar), it MUST be
posted in your posting as well as announced prior to the start of the game.
-
Poker is a Gentleman's/Gentlewoman's Game! Please follow standard Casino rules that pertain
to behavior during and after your games.
-
Adherence to these rules is a self-policing endeavor. We encourage members
to report any games that do not follow the above rules.
IF YOU HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR
ADDITIONS/CHANGES TO THESE RULES, EMAIL
US AND WE'LL CONSIDER THEM!
* There is a reason for this. First please note
that we are NOT lawyers and we certainly don't profess to know the laws...
HOWEVER, our basic research has shown that a "home game" of poker is
COMPLETELY LEGAL as long as there is not a "house rake".
